ART IN SOMTOW’S HOUSE
Somtow’s house is full of art. Some of it is valuable stuff by big name artists; some of it is fake Chinese copies of things; some of it is just “stuff Somtow likes” that has somehow accreted itself into Somtow’s home. In this page, Somtow wants to share a few of the objets d’art that are hanging or lying around. There are hundreds of them — on walls, stuffed into closets — so this is just a random sampling.
THE LITTLE PRINCE by Phillip GLadstone
Somtow’s an avid collector of Gladstone's work and has around a dozen pieces.
PINK VAN GOGH by MIKEY JIRAROS
One of Mikey’s earliest oil paintings done when he was about 16 and first moved into Somtow’s house.
a rangda from bali
Somtow's mother brought this painting down from Bali.
RENE CAPONE
This painting by Rene Capone is in Somtow's hallway....
FELIS VAN GOGH
A huge painting Somtow bought for $1 on ebay.
JIRAPAT'S ELVIS
Jirapat is the only Thai painter to make it into Thames & Hudson's 100 World's Best Contemporary Artists book ... so it's an amazing investment to have acquired this painting of a giant Elvis being contemplated by a little angel
CHAGALL
This is a signed lithograph. No paperwork, so signature could be fake Love Chagall though. Have at least a dozen scattered through the house.
